About the Practice!
At Luci Webb Occupational Therapy we use a unique orthographic approach to writing called the 'Secret Code'. It is an evidence based approach formulated by Luci Webb based on findings from Lindamood-Bell and Virginia W. Berninger, leading researchers in this field. Orthography awareness is the ability to consider how to translate language from spoken to written form, what we like to refer to as language by hand. It includes rules for letter order, sound correspondence and mental images for words.
Beginning with shapes, pictures and individual letters, we then systematically build up to words and sentences. These words are grouped together using common orthographic patterns, which can then be applied to new more complex words. What makes our approach so unique is the focus on working memory. This skill underpins the ability to read, write, spell and complete math successfully. We focus on a colour coded system to promote recall (not just copying!) as there is a direct link between recall of letters and the ability to write automatically.
The practice specializes in working with children from 2 years to 18 years old.
0-3 years
We assess for early developmental issues and advice appropriate developmental play. We also work with families who experience fussy eaters!
16-18 years
Critical issues arising are literacy and writing/ written output. If you struggle with reading you will still struggle with writing.
At Luci Webb Occupational Therapy Services we offer a unique handwriting program that is evidence-based and is aligned with the latest research in neuro-science.

Your child can often verbalize his/her answers but then struggle to get it down on paper. We teach writing using the best evidence based practice. A unique multi-sensory approach that tap into memory and recall. We call it the secret code and it offers a fun and engaging way to learn those letters but more importantly recall them.

Luci Webb, the owner and head therapist, has more than 28 years of experience as a child therapist. She specialises in treating children with dyslexia, handwriting issues, motor skill difficulties, as well as feeding and behavioural difficulties.
We use a variety of proven techniques and therapies - such as children’s activities, the secret code of handwriting, and computer programs - to treat your child.

It is our aim to work closely with you and your child to map out a treatment plan that is specifically tailored to your child’s unique needs. We are an evidence-based practice, combining medical research, clinical evidence and your preferences and values to plan out the best treatment plan for your child.
