Baby Feeding, Behavioural & Other Difficulties

If your toddler has extreme feeding or behavioural difficulties, we can work with you to determine where these difficulties stem from, whether they are linked to other difficulties and frustrations, and how best to treat them.

We also specialise in treating difficulties with sensory processing, visual tracking, memory, concentration and focus, and speed processing. We use a combination of activities and computer programs to address these issues and teach you, as well as your child, how to manage them.

Dyslexia & Handwriting Issues

At Luci Webb Occupational Therapy, we use a special writing system – the secret code of handwriting – as well as a series of activities to assist children with dyslexia and handwriting issues. If you have noticed your child struggling with writing or learning, you can count on our assistance and expert therapy services to rectify that.

Child’s Motor Skill Development

We specialise in using special activities and techniques to develop children’s fine and gross motor skills. We use fine motor skills everyday to carry out self-care and academic tasks like buttoning clothes, brushing teeth, writing, and using scissors. Gross motor skills enable us to keep ourselves upright, run, walk, climb stairs, and move around freely.

Handwriting

Handwriting is the most complex task that we undertake as human beings. Research shows that no other activity can engage all parts of the brain as in when one is writing!

Handwriting is not just a motor task. It is by far a cognitive task as you have to recall a letter before you write it. It is a cognitive task that requires for you to have multi-task i.e. think what you want to write then recall the letters in sequence (spell) and then get in onto paper (end point).

Visual Processing

These form the building blocks to learning!

Does your child have persistent reversals b/d saw/was? Does your child struggle to retain information? Does your child struggle with recalling and learning the times tables?

This is usually due to issues with aspects of visual processing.

Learning to Learn Strategies

At this practice we specialize in working with years 3 and up to high school in developing learning strategies. This is because we know that pre-dominant issue for most of our children is working memory difficulties. This has nothing to do with intelligence but rather the child needs for information to be taught in a different way because they cannot reply on their memory. Therefore we help them to develop strategies that support their learning. This involves:
  • Note taking
  • Drawing to help recall
  • Summarizing who, what, when, where, why and how
  • Building confidence, success and self-esteem
Success = Learning

We use resources that are well recognized such as the LINDA-MOOD BELL VERBALIZING/VISUALIZING program that helps with literacy, comprehension and written out out-put.
